Women Leading Technology was founded in 2018 and officially debuted the following year, spearheaded by its visionary founder, Kelly Flowers. With over 13 years of experience in the technology sector, Flowers often found herself as the lone woman or woman of color on her teams. Upon delving deeper into industry statistics, she unearthed a troubling reality: only 23.3% of women are represented in architecture and construction, with a mere 1% being Black. This revelation ignited her passion to launch an all-girls architecture and construction program, aimed at bridging this stark gender and racial gap, and nurturing the future generation of leaders in the field.

Since its launch in 2023, our program has empowered over 60 girls, disbursing more than $4,000 in scholarships. Notably, our efforts have garnered acclaim locally, with features in the Dallas Morning News, WFAA, & Fox News, while also receiving national recognition from esteemed platforms like Good Morning America & The Jennifer Hudson Show. Recognizing the importance of early exposure, Flowers prioritizes starting participants in our programs at a young age, equipping them with hands-on industry knowledge that positions them to thrive in the competitive landscape of architecture and construction.
